CITY ESCAPES BY AMAWATERWAYS

Europe, With More Room to Breathe

City Escapes are specially curated river cruises designed for Europe’s quieter months, when destinations feel more open and there is more time to experience each port.

Choose small-group experiences offered specifically during the City Escapes season, explore independently and settle into the rhythm of local life—or combine both approaches throughout the journey.

Onboard, the atmosphere is relaxed and enhanced amenities include a selection of wine, beer and cocktails throughout the cruise.

It is an easy introduction to river cruising for first-time guests and a fresh way to experience Europe for returning travelers.

One Rhine. Many Ways to Experience It.

This journey gives you more than one way to experience Europe. Everyday, you can choose the experience that best fits your interests and pace.

For the Culture Seeker

Visit Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum, explore Cologne’s Old Town, see Mainz’s Chagall windows and discover the history and architecture of Strasbourg and Colmar.

For the Foodie Traveler

Choose an Amsterdam culinary walk, sample local beer and specialties in Düsseldorf or Cologne, make pretzels in Mainz and enjoy wine experiences near Heidelberg and the Black Forest.

For the Active Explorer

See the destinations from a different perspective with cycling options in Mainz and Strasbourg, plus walkable cities and villages throughout the journey.

For a Little of Everything

Mix museums, regional flavors, history, scenery and time at leisure. Your choices can change from day to day.

Seven Nights Along the Rhine

The small-ship cruise was perfect for my preference. The food, room, service and the cruise manager were all excellent. I would take another AmaWaterways cruise, and I'd love to work with Claudine again.

Claudine with Guests and Staff on AmaWaterways

Hosted Without Being Herded

I’ve been in travel since 2015, I’m an AmaWaterways cruise line specialist, and I’ve sailed multiple times on AmaWaterways, including the Rhine river.  I know this region well enough to help you get the most from each port and onboard.

I’ll be aboard AmaLucia throughout the sailing to help create an experience that feels connected, comfortable and easy.

You can join shared moments with other Paradigm guests, ask for guidance when you need it and always have a familiar point of contact onboard. But this is still your vacation. Choose your own excursions, spend time as a couple or with your travel companion, and participate socially at the level that feels right to you.

It is the ease of hosted travel without a rigid group schedule.

So much to coordinate with our gang, and you were so patient with all of us. So fun to spend time with onboard. Our invitation stands!
